What's new with you little dragonfly?

It's been awhile since i have done any macro photography, its always a great pastime, really forces you to slow down, relax and be patient, even more so that landscape photography.

This little guy escaped my murderous run on the lawn mover so thought it only fitting that i should give him the time and get a decent shot. I would get some cool shots of spiders, but sadly they get eaten up by the mower, rather mercilessly i must admit 🙂

This was taken with a very old nikon 105mm f4 micro lens coupled with the PK-13 extension tube, this pretty well gets it to 1:1 ratio, the quality of the image from this lens has degraded since moving from my old crop sensor camera to a full frame, all the scratches and imperfections show up now 🙂

The Hungry Caterpillar

1 juicy leaf, 2 tart plums, 3 juicy strawberries…

I took this shot for tickles, we have a book called the hungry caterpillar, of which I am sure there are a few variations, ie counting etc but this one we have which belonged to Chaos, counts to 5 and then turns into a beautiful butterfly. It also has a little puppet where you can put your finger in to make the the little puppet caterpillar wiggle around (which tickles loves)… in my case its my little finger since the authors clearly did think about catering for those with larger hands ;( c'mon people equal equality 😉 lol..

I saw this caterpillar going gangbusters on this leaf and in the space of several minutes he had nailed the entire leaf and was heading for a second helping! I thought it a great supplement to our hungry caterpillar story at home and i am sure it will become a useful midnight settling tool 🙂

Interconnection

The world is interconnected through small veins, backbones and intermediaty tributaries, all working together to form the lattice and fabric of what is our world, our environment. The small telltale signs of deteriotation should not go unnoticed, just like a single leaf on a huge tree or the smallest frog in a universe of ponds they all have meaning when they stop or fall

Chaos and I found this leaf by the chickens at her school..we both thought it would make a nice picture 🙂

Flat Jumping Spider

Its always great to have a quick scout about the garden for some macro subjects and even better when Chaos can help, although it does often end with a traumatized insect, only through too much love and handling 🙂

This was a little jumping spider we found, Chaos enticed him out from under the leaf with a twig and as such found a nice pose for a shot.

Cling to Hope

Hang on to the green stuff man! it only takes a well placed sizeable water drop to knock any one of these little fungi for six 🙂 There were several casualties whilst i was there ;( rip.
Its been awhile since I have chased any fungi and there is something disturbingly refreshing about getting your knees dirty whilst your head is 3 inches from the wet, mossy ground!
