botany bay

Surprisingly enough botany bay does have some very nice fine white sand, slightly reminiscent of the sand down at Jervis Bay, just a shame its been polluted and filled with rubbish from storm water runoff and inconsiderate beach/bay goers.

There are not many places on the Sydney coastline that have not been photographed extensively so its always a challenge to find somewhere different to go. This spot is just around the corner from the Port Botany Shipping terminal.. there's story about that too…I had see it once before when driving past, there is a nice little beach and a what looks like a sea pool with quite a large wall which the local kids seem to love jumping off, its certainly not your Bronte beach or Coogee, but it does have parking and its free 🙂

This little channel was exposed nicely at low tide and the greenery of the alley and rock just screamed at me to photograph it 🙂

So, to the story about the container terminal.. i parked up in the carpark and as I came back, tripod and camera in hand sure enough, my good mates from the container terminal security cruise by… like yeah there is no one but me there… anyways the dude pulls up and starts the spiel about not taking pictures of the terminal, it took all my patience not to lose my shit at him, so with a polite, 'yeah I can read the sign mate, i was taking pictures of the rocks' i hopped in the car and took off.
Seriously and i think your security services would be better placed somewhere else rather than chasing down photographers with tripods and cameras.. 😉
