Whats really cool in this image is the fact that if you look closely you can see a casualty on the petal of the flower, a fallen bug who lies there in an almost comical way which looks like it flew right on in and went splat onto the flower…..

Beautiful capture, and interesting story.
But I think it looks like a nymph of some sort, As a nymph it crawled up the stem of the flower, to start the transformation. So the insect has left the building so to speak :-).

🙂 I did not even notice the dead one until after the shot – its taken with the 300 mm lens so quite a distance away, which also results in some nice out of focus area
