Flat Jumping Spider

Its always great to have a quick scout about the garden for some macro subjects and even better when Chaos can help, although it does often end with a traumatized insect, only through too much love and handling 🙂

This was a little jumping spider we found, Chaos enticed him out from under the leaf with a twig and as such found a nice pose for a shot.

Rooted Dreams

Towra Point v2

Rarely do I revisit a location twice in the space of a couple of weeks, however I really wanted to check out this place at high tide, thus it called me for another quick visit and the tidal times worked out nicely – it did however result in very wet feet since the only way to get there was to wade thru calf deep water – alittle disconcerting when its dark and navigating by torchlight. I even walked right past my little subject tree since i did not recognise it with all the water around!

Dragons Footsteps

Predawn blue bliss
I never ceases to amaze me the planet that we live on and how stuff just happens and sometimes so beautifully (well beautiful in a human perspective sense). Whilst its all just atmospherics and physics it is still amazing (for this lowly human) to watch the predawn colours develop from the night blue to light up the sky like a painter covering a fresh dark canvas – or in the words of my daughter, like the easter bunny has just painted the sky.

Sunrise is by far the best time of day.

Fishing on carpet of green and gold

Some very sensible fishermen out on this particular morning, all decked out with life jackets and proper footwear. It was also a magnificent morning to be out, fresh, cool and plenty of colour.

Little Bay is one of those little gems of locations in Sydney, a relatively large stretch of coastline dominated by the Golf Course (s) which has it all from rock shelves, to cliffs to sheltered beaches and most importantly of all, pretty darn quiet, for Sydney anyway 😉

Colour or BW

Thoughts? I like the colour, however I feel the BW version simplifies the image and concentrates more on the composition and tree roots which for me was the main anchor poitn of the image. Note, the composition is not that terribly good in my opinion 😉 The intention was to try and utilise the roots to lead up thru the image to the waterfall.

Texture – smooth vs bumpy

Just like where there is a light side, there is a dark and cold side – where there is smoothness, roughness is nearby.

There was difficulty tracking down a interesting foreground to match the sky here, however, one must always make do with what is there – watch for the next one with a dinky little oyster, high and dry 🙂

A continuation of the Midday Seascapes – Coalcliff

Following on from a midday long exposure (see here: https://plus.google.com/100975265940134223422/posts/cM1zHFriUgD)

I thought a seascape with only a second or so of shutter was appropriate, to achieve this I stancked the LEE graduated filters (0.9 and 0.6) with the 0.6 pulled over the entirety of the lens, thus providing some extra stoppages. This with the circular polariser was enough to get me to 1 second.

Building the Barangaroo Planetoid

Count the cranes
So, they reckon the buildings have apparently doubled in size since the original design proposal – well, the proof will be in the pudding I suppose, not long now before this skyline is changed forever. Get in while you can for your non-developed Barangaroo Pano or planetoid 😉

7 Frame landscape orientation panorama. Each frame was bracketed -2, 0 & +2 stops.
Pano stitched as 3 layers, blended automatically, flipped, polar coordinates applied then resized back to a square format.
