Record

I think this is officially a record for me, the same location 3 times in the space of 18 or so months 🙂

I am becoming more partial to returning to the same location, but there is always that hesitation about whether I will come away with a better shot than last time 🙂 Conditions are always different and also the time of the visit can vary how good the location is, this is a the same location from the last two visits, noting each time I have forced myself to try and take a different composition, angle or perspective.

  1. Well, I can see why you keep comming back here. Beautiful place with lots of compositional possibilities. I like the S-like shape in the foreground made up by the stream and trunk of the tree, framing the beautiful waterfall. And all covered by a canopy of leaves making the whole scene mysterious and fairytale-like. Good job!

  2. Hi Gerard

Do you ever feel an emotional connection with the place you return to?

I ask, because I do. I will post a pic in a few minutes, of a mountain behind my childhood home in Tasmania. A new road was built to go past the mountain, and it offered my first ever real access to a special place I 'grew up with' but could never access.

Now I go back from time to time, but more than to take a pic, I take a mind-suck. That means I breath in the fresh mountain air, commit the eye-images to my brain, and cry.

Oops I am an 'real man' – I should not have added that last sentence 🙂

  3. Hey +Phillip Ebrall , yes I do find i have a connection with locations – the best way for me to explain it is.. its like a timestamp in life and the location reminds me of that time in life and particularly the surrounding events that were occurring, whether that be the time at the location with friends (as it was for this location twice) or moments of independent solace (this location as well!)
It is also a big driver in my photography, getting to locations (like this) and enjoying them through photography keeps me mildy sane 😉
Thanks for the comments mate – (circled now)
