Tassie Overland Track here we come.

Tassie Overland Track here we come.

Well, ok maybe a bit more practice and I reckon the little E might need to be able to see over the grass she is walking thru before we hit that one.

A fun short overnight hike, the perfect length for the youngest one which had it all, seaside cliffs, leech infested forest, never ending stairs and sandy beaches.

The Burgh Track, Coastal Walk and North Era Campsite, Royal National Park.

Took a few pictures and the weather fined up real nice for some astro shots, I should have stayed up later, the MW core was just coming thru when I went to bed 🙂

End of an Era or the start of one?

End of an Era or the start of one?

at North Era campsite 🙂

Careful, I’m just warming up on the dad jokes 🙂

Taken at probably the only dry patch of grass at the entire campsite shared with the local deer population. I think its probably time for the good folk at OEH/NPWS or frogs and logs or whatever they are referred to this week to have a look at some additional campsites in the Royal National Park.
The fact there is more locations for heritage huts then there is for public walk in camp grounds in one of the most speccy national parks within 1 hour of Sydney is bonkers.

North Era Campsite Royal National Park aka swampland with two inaccessible dunnies.

This Easter egg hunt was a bit treacherous.. had to dodge the spiders and bugs 🙂 I probably would not stick my hand in a few of those spots 🙂

Croc spotting.
A few aerials whilst cruising around on a scenic flight in my favourite aircraft of all time (and the one I learnt to fly in), the mighty Cessna 172.
Amazing country, almost savannah like with crazy cliffs and tabletops.

Milkyway.

I would have found a nicer foreground, but it seems everything in this state (NT) is out to either kill you or make your life very uncomfortable.

We may not be alone in this universe, but sure as sh$t i was not alone standing here in the pitch dark. Whether it be the local buffalo or the bird size mozzies there were more pressing issues than contemplating the serenity of our local galaxy.

At least there was no traffic 🙂

5 horizontal images @ 14mm stitched together, got rid of all those annoying shootings stars as well 😉

Whilst on the outside the nacelles (engine poddy things where the landing gear also comes out of) on these aircraft look deceptively simple, like a boxy volvo style design 🙂

however, it hides an impressive package, in there is all your engine thingys, which by the way is all the wrong way round cause there is a big fan up the front, thing of it like your dunny ‘S-bend’ ducting and airflow going all directions (turbine with propeller)… and amongst all that you got these long dangley legs folded up in there …

Be sure to appreciate the quality design of the Viking Air limited – well actually its Dehavilland, rebranded as Bombardier and bought by some big company called Longview… 😉 gotta love how companies get swallowed up.
