Reworking the Triptych

It is quite incredible to see the change in a triptych image through some simple rearranging and aligning – i certainly have my eyes more open to seeing how these can and should be done. Kudos to the chaps at DSLRusers who helped me out in ‘seeing’ the potential of this sequence.

South Head Sunrise

Pretty intense location with plenty of compositions and plenty of history. I never realised, but there was once (1940s) a anti-sub net placed all the way across the gap between south and north heads. This caught one of the Japanese 'midget subs' in the 'Attack on Sydney Harbour' which then proceeded to self -destruct with those on board – very interesting

Gerroa actually has some interesting history, aviation history at that, Charles Kingsford Smith, yeah that dude who Sydney's Mascot domestic/international airport is named after! Sir Charles piloted the first commercial flight between Australia and New Zealand and took off from this very beach on the footstep of Gerroa, Seven Mile Beach. Clearly they were not thinking about long term corrosion eh?

This location is stunning and the place would be a super place to visit on the off holiday season, its also not a bad old windsurfing beach too.

Sunrise – Diamond Head South

The plan was to check out Kylies beach and a nice little outcropping of rocks on the beach, however a minor issue with craploads of sea foam prevented this!

Nonetheless, one must make the most of what one can with what is provided. There is a great little stream that runs beside the camp cround (Kylies Campground from memory) and flows into teh sea, it is tannin coloured and makes for some nice images.

And, you not believe, not only was there lots a sea foam…but the fog rolled in!

There is also the headland just to the north which I have walked along in teh past, however I must get there for sunrise soon, there is some awesome looking rock headlands there which seem pretty accessible.

Grants Beach – Potential Sunrise Session Site

Not a bad little beach, easily accessible and has some nice rock features, the rock is quite different to the southern parts of NSW, i think its like a conglomerate rock rather than the typically all black rock, yep thats a technical term 😉

Grants beach is just north of North Haven.
