Well polls seem to be all the rage, so lets have it BW or colour?
I am leaning towards the BW image, it seems to have more mood, which was in the forefront of my mind when processing this image.

Out front: sinking sand, some filters, probably the CPL and thats it 🙂

its a jungle in there!
View large or go home 😉
Well you may not be able to see the heart shape from this angle, however rest assured, this little set of falls has been coined by +O. Sydney and from his composition, lower and and the left, it does resemble a Heart 🙂
The light was coming and going as the clouds roared over head and intermittent spurts of rain fell, this gave the opportunity to catch the shot whilst some areas were nicely illuminated giving that dappled type of light.
This style of processing and capturing images is becoming pretty standard for me and I think I do need to branch out and try something alittle different 🙂 Panorama image with a total of 5 frames stitched together, each frame bracketed to capture the full dynamic range, which you can see in the upper falls in the top of the image. As usual, manually blended to achieve the lighting that I recall seeing.
5 shot Panorama (bracketed)
Techie data:
D7000 with Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8 @ 19mm – Aperture: f/8 and Shutter Speed: 31.5 (normal frame) 1/3s dark frame) and 6 s (bright frame)
ISO 100
Out front: Hoya Circular Polariser, lots of rocks, slippery ones, some vines and a trickle of water 🙂

I think this is officially a record for me, the same location 3 times in the space of 18 or so months 🙂
I am becoming more partial to returning to the same location, but there is always that hesitation about whether I will come away with a better shot than last time 🙂 Conditions are always different and also the time of the visit can vary how good the location is, this is a the same location from the last two visits, noting each time I have forced myself to try and take a different composition, angle or perspective.

Darn hard shot to compose – I was squatted down under some very wet branches trying to get a enough perspective on the falls to eliminate that bright sky, camera was nearly on the ground and in the end I had to crop some off the top to remove the blown out mass of white up there anyway. Even with a bracketed exposure there was too much dynamic range in the light so I let it go free 😉
In anycase it does leave the opportunity for the log so shine and be the star actor in the image, nicely done loggy 🙂 and fully supported by a team of orange leaves

is the under side of the National Falls
with my bum balanced on one rock and feet planted somewhat precariously on moss covered slippery ass rocks either side – I tried to capture this journey the water takes after death defying ride over the cliff edge 😉

the return to Wattamola
Very different conditions from the last time I was here:

Cheers to +O. Sydney for the invite and company, perfect day for some waterfall chasing, this little spot up on the jumping spot was perfect and after seeing +O. Sydney jump about with glee at the composition and falls I had to check it out 🙂
It was getting close to twilight, well as much as you could see with all that cloud and occasional rain shower coming thru 🙂 but the light was divine for a whiles 🙂

Something a little different from the usual waterfall images found at Cataract Falls in Lawson.
I admit there was some re-arrangement of the first fern to achieve the desired position 🙂
Division? Barrier? leading line? or pita?
(sorry for the re-upload – i had a crappy low resolution version before)
A very beautiful rocky over hang at these falls, perfect for escaping the light rain. I am sure I was not the only one under this overhang 😉 it would be a great place for bats and all other manner of local wildlife to gain respite.
5 landscape orientation images (bracketed) stitched together and manually blended – just to preserve some of that natural dynamic range, probably could have achieved pretty much the same result with a single exposure.
Techie data:
D7000 with Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 @ 16mm Aperture: f/8
out front – Hoya screw in circular polariser and neutral density filter (3 stops)

A real gem of a falls, reminded me of the falls down in Valley of the Waters, jet black rock with whispers of water drifting over the edge to finally tumble gently on golden paths
lots of landscape shots stitched together to provide a panoramic view of this falls, 5 images from memory.

One of three very quaint falls located at Lawson – these are excellent since they are not the most visited falls, like Leura Cascades or Wentworth falls, this equates to more time and room to move if your taking photos 😉
What I am really enjoying with waterfall shots is the fact that you often have to work pretty hard to find a really good composition or for that matter a original one, now throw in slippery rocks, rain, branches and a guaranteed challenge of not have a nice spot to plonk one's tripod and things get really interesting 🙂
At this time of day the Adele falls had the sunlight streaming off the top of the falls after 5 minutes of clambering around the falls i came across this position, after alittle branch housekeeping and with the falls dripping on me and my cap covering the camera I took this frame and also another selfie (but i'll save that for later 🙂 ), prolly too many 'and's in that sentence 😉

I love singular trees on hills, they make such interesting subjects.
Processed using Nik's silverfex, a very handy quick and dirty BW processor.

Unknown Falls – the waterfall into the ocean.
On this particular day I was standing on the edge of some impressive rocks with the nearest civilization over 15 kilometres away, my thoughts cleared with the ocean wind that came close to blowing me over, nothing left between the ears after that 😉
Another amazing location which is situated a short drive from Sydney and provides countless locations for the aspiring nature photographer and outdoor types, i shall return, shortly 🙂
