Sometimes in life ya just get a result out, even if your not happy that its perfect

Thats gonna be my motto for the next day or so 😉 sometimes better to get a result out in a reasonable time frame then nothing at all…

I have a couple of shots from this morning similar to this one with various compositions etc, but have sat on them for quite a while, not quite happy with them, the sunrise is nice, but the composition is just not what I had in my head – hence whilst it is not what I necessarily wanted, better to get a result than none at all.

Exif love:
2 frames blended in PS
D750 coupled with Nikkor 16-35 mm f4 @ 16mm Aperture: f18 and Shutter Speed: 8s (over exp) 4s (normal exp)
ISO 100
Out front – LEE GND (0.6x) and Hoya CPL

    You're too anal, I reckon! (but in a house of perfectionists, I get it)
    How much impact does the CPL have in this type of shot?

    The CPL helps cut thru the water reflection, when shooting into the sun it has somewhat a limited effect but in this case it has helped 'see' the sand in the foreground, just enough get some more texture and detail from those roots…
    now, ya wanna know whats wrong with teh image ? imo, the cutoff tree on the right ( i could not clone it out either 🙂 ) foreground is a bit meh… lots of water droplets on the filter which meant I had to darken the tree to hide them …

    sadly the more I take photos the more critical I get and quite often images get left to harddrive gods 🙂 Hence, why I gotta try and be positive with what is there.. and not what is not there 🙂 cheers mate.

  11. +Gerard Blacklock Hi Gerard, I think a lot of people get more critical of their work as time goes by, but perfection's over rated in my view 🙂 In this image, I think the cut off tree actually improves the shot, it adds depth and for me a bit of mystery, what lies in that direction? and it also draws my eye to the sunset. It's definitely an image that gets me thinking about the place rather than the technical elements of the image. I like it a lot!

  18. I've seen a lot of promising projects screwed up because people got impatient and released something too early that wasn't finished. – You only get one chance to make a first impression and the first impression is the one people will judge you by.

  40. +Stuart Kerrison in my work i see that too… but and its a big but.. you probably should not apply that to very facet of life and lose sight of flexibility in actually completing something rather than striving for complete perfection … if that makes sense 😉
