Really, guys, did we need this many helicopters to cover one oversized sail boat? two camera ships and the NSW polair squirrel….ya know they could be running dope on that boat 🙂
How on earth there is not a collision on the water or in the air still amazes me.

The emerging blossom of a common waterlilly.
Perfectly illuminated by the diffused light from the stormcell above.
Also a very conveniently located concrete edge painting which was as fresh as spring daisies., thankyou northhaven council, probably one of the better breakwalls i have seen about the traps..
Processing nightmare – if anyone has any good tips for making HDR panos, I am all ears – i usually either use PTGUI to stitch a HDR with blend planes etc (preferred) or HDR individual bracketed images then stitch (in PS with HDRefx) – however the latter is very limiting since the HDR does alot of the work and I prefer to manually blend my exposures..
It also does not help that I had to take it with a UWA, around 13mm, there is plenty of artifacts and I had to spend a overly onerous amount of time trying to fix things, the sun looks crap and the red just seems off aarrghh – oh well, next time..
This was a morning of a 0.5 metre swell (as advertised), I can only imagine what it would be like in even just a mild swell.
The pin point of light you can see is a tunnel out into the ocean, the swell you can see is probably 1.5 metres, I was on a rock about 2 metres up (a very sharp one at that 🙂 ) and was getting splashed.
the flows come from all angles, be careful where you stand 😉
View large – what i really like about this place was the diversity of the rocks, from the smooth polished rocks in the foreground to the angry and very sharp serrated black rocks in the ocean. Whilst not quite achieving the composition I had in my head, i still liked the lack of scale that the image portrays and also clash of the rock types melded together by the long exposure water.
note the access pole running between the two big rocks in the centre..a bit of balance beam anyone? 😉
not a bad spot to watch from either – keeping our boaties safe, watch for snakes in the grass tho, there were some disturbing rustles in there 🙂
Don't let the name turn you off – prime realestate and some cliffs (behind the shot) that are to die for.
What I find really amazing about doing seascape sessions is the variations in the rock, in the space of only 25 kms the rock on the headlands can change from basalt (well i think its basalt, its black and smooth and fing slippery) to this kind of conglomerate rock.
Probably a geologists dream 😉 Anyway some cranky clouds.

North Brother, the European name (by Captain Cook) for the hill in the distance and the place where one of the Dreamtime legend Birpai tribe brothers rests.
Like the Napoleon advertisement, its a crime not to prime view large 🙂
It was a bit wild and woolley out this evening – look carefully and you can see the lightning in two places on the right of the image – don't ask how i stitched a image and got two lighting bolts 😉 its a long story 😉 6 landscape orientation images stitched.
Sometimes its worthwhile braving the elements for a shot and this was one such time, although i and others have questioned my sanity here considering the hill (north brother) in the distance did get fried by lightning 🙂 and I was considering heading up there for sunset 🙂
