This scene reminds me of many stories told about spatial disorientation, basically a condition, usually when flying, where one loses sense of which way is up or down, typically results (for the inexperienced at least) in a graveyard spin, no guesses for what that means π
In this case, whilst the the removal of colour adds to the effect, in reality it was a struggle to distinguish a horizon, couple this with the blurring of the ridges from sand being whipped up by the wind and I reckon it would not take much to end up walking on ya head π
Luckily I was not doing much walking at that point π

+Gerard Blacklock Fabulous image Gerard, even if does do my head in somewhat π
Fantastic picture 😃
The lines and textures are great, and the black and white definitely suits the landscape and image! Well done!
Absolutely fabulous image! Where is that?
And as for your question I think it may be the aviation term where that the spin is so slow the control surfaces have no effect so unless you have a parachute you're in trouble!

yeah one of those spins that takes alot of altitude to come out of, if at all!
This image is from some dunes up north of Newcastle, close to the Anna Bay side.
Thanks Gerald! Once I finish exploring my country perhaps I can put my truck on a boat and come explore your beautiful country! π
