Storm Runner Triptych

The basic concept of a triptych is to link or tell a story with the images, for me, i started with triptychs mainly since I could never decide on what image I liked out of a series, this has morphed into triptychs that mostly follow the landscape or, more likely a series of images of the kids which lays out what happened 🙂

Sometimes, and only sometimes, do a get a few images that are related and when combined create a story or a link.

I reckon this is one such example, now whilst the viewer may not know the 3 images are all from the same location but basically lookign in different directions, this fact is not really important to anyone else but me. In this image the flow of the land lines up between the images to form a landscape, the seat and the building create points of interest and raise question marks for the viewer, the middle image throws in the human context and links the two.

Taken at Sydney Park, one of the City of Sydney Councils success stories, lets hope the west connex interchange that they are putting next door does not stuff it up 🙂

Electrified Portal

or maybe the electric chair from hell…

Interesting bit of art, cool angles and curves, but boy, does it comes alive with a little EL wire love after dark 🙂

It's a long way to the top

if ya want a rest

3 shot panorama, all birds where there, some got stitched out in the processing, but I could not work out how to get them back 🙂

The things we do for a bit of exercise, its rather amazing how many people will happily trot for a run in the run, thunder and lightning 🙂

Ninja shutter skills

To add to my repertoire of ninja skills, the primary one being the ability to sneak outta the house for sunrise without anyone waking (well mostly), the other one being the ability to catch falling toys, wraps and all other manner of items being ditched by a child being carried ;)… add to that the ability to press the shutter button faster than Chuck Norris.. and lightning 🙂
Well, truth be told it was just luck, i do have this cool little light sensor/shutter trigger for my camera which apparently can help capture lighting, however I forgot it 🙁 probably would have not helped anyway. I did not even notice this lightning bolt until I looked at the image later on.

Some may remember the recent storms where there were two people in Newtown / inner west struck by lightning, I figured the chance of me getting smashed by a bolt is pretty slim then, even given the fact that I am at the top of a hill carrying a umbrella 🙂 I gotta say though, there were a few strikes which felt a bit too close for comfort. I also saw some interesting aircraft departures out of YSSY, it must have been a few short uncomfortable turns for a few paxs as they climbed out of the airport!

The rise of the Citadel

This premium little spot up on the headland between Bondi and Tamarama lends itself to pretty well anything you put in it, from the geodesic dome, to the big head blowing bubble gum to the wind chimes, they have all looked pretty sweet at this spot. I reckon tho, the dome was by far the best so far 🙂

This art installation is part of the sculptures by the sea 2015, its got mirrors on the other side which would look pretty cool at sunrise, but other than that I go not idea what it is or what its meant to do or represent 🙂 but it does look pretty cool with a little extra lightpainting and torch work.

I timed this 450.6 second exposure with the moon just rising, i am pretty keen to do a set of star trails on this spot as well, even with this relatively short exposure (from a star trail point of view) the stars stand out pretty nicely.

The tail end of the Rainbow Serpent

the green end at that

So the story has it, the rainbow serpent lived in waterholes and was responsible for shaping and naming significant places in Australia. The thing I find interesting is that its a story that is consistent, with variations across all parts of aboriginal cultural, i also remember as a kid reading a few different versions of the tale. One such one was where the serpent ate lotsa people and while he slept (after eating so many peeps) he slept and the others came up and slit his belly and everyone got out :).. the serpent got cranky after that 🙁

weirded out yet ?

There is much more to it (Rainbow serpent story) than my lame 2 sentences, however the partially exposed rock at low tide with the green moss reminded me of the Rainbow serpent, hence the title.

The Hidden Weeding Wedding

yep, up there, thats a bride and groom in the throes of….

passion..whilst being photographed 😉 well maybe not quite passion…

Hats off to the couple and the keen bean photographer's, its a fair old walk down here to the cape and the last time I wore high heels (ssshh.. ! 🙂 ) i can imagine that it would have been hell for the bride 🙂

It was a quick grab shot as I was heading back up towards the golf course, I turned around and the photographer had perched them up on the edge with clear instructions to stand very still 🙂 .. which was kind of them, meant they were not blurry in this 1.3s exposure.

Poled

Botany Bay

I think I broke every rule here 🙂 central composition… disobeyed rule of thirds … man i am a rebel 😉

Its actually a 2 shot vertical panorama, I wanted that tall slim orientation (a bit like me 😉 ) with alittle beach, some nice turquoise water and the fog/rain clouds overhead…
