Aussie Bees

Just doing our part to help keep the bee population up, gotta say these Bee's seemed to have zero pollen on them which makes me wonder if our Lavender plant is a bit of a dud.

In recent light of the authenticity of australian honey, its a good time to remember there are lots of great alternatives to the supermarket chains honey brands, if your in Sydney the flemmo markets have a really good stall for honey or you can always check out https://www.beethecure.com.au/honey-map/ for local providers near your area.

Critical Thinking

What has happened to all our critical thinking? Why do people not question what is placed before them in a world full of click bait, one liners and shock headlines, i would have thought our ability to critically assess what our eyes are seeing, reading and watching would have improved, sadly it seems, for the majority, the opposite is true.
If you agree with the opinion, the vision or the story placed in front of you, then that is all the more reason to question why?!… my slight bend on that famous quote by Mark Twain, 'Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.'

Signs

I am kinda tired of signs, everywhere you go now there is a sign telling you not to walk here, do not climb on this, do not cross this line, do not ride your bike, do not skate here…. Some signs could be replaced a single sign telling us what we can do, which would reduce the lines on these signs to lets say.. one line 🙂

No signs on this tree tho – Woolooware Bay

Garden of the clouds

(and dead trees)

you know how hard it is to edit photos with one child insisting on playing baby dragons and the other one trying to climb the bookcase (and shes only 13 months…) 😉

This was one the very few glimpses of the hills thru the clouds, as we came to this spot it was a complete white out, then out of nowhere the clouds rolled away revealing one very nice vista and resulting in me running (well hobbling about in the snow) trying to find a composition that worked.

Horizontal

Its taken some time to get to the point where I am happy with this shot. This tree was nothing much to look at from most angles, but from one side, deep in a snow drift the tree and the scene just shone in my eyes. The small glint of colour peeking through the snow and weather worn bend from the relentless south westerly made it worth effort in getting to this point.
I probably took about 5 different compositions of this shot, each one is 3-4 shots stitched together, each time waiting for the wind to die down enough to capture the tree as it was still, all with the added challenge of trying to press the shutter with gloves which by the second day were getting pretty frozen not exactly very malleable.

It does not end there, capturing a scene which is predominately white and getting it to come out white and not grey and with enough detail to show the true scene, specifically referring to the trees in the background which whilst caught in a foggy moment were certain present and gave the scene a sense of scale and alignment.

Twisted

Embrace the fact that life is not straight and the route not always clear. Paths lead into all kinds of places and experiences, some better than others, and hopefully by the end of it you will have something like this, a solid base with many paths and journeys outstretched.

This majestic old gum does not necessarily have the attraction of the rich colour and youth of some of its nearby peers, but there were still hints of former glory and lines which just drew me in (that and it was pretty well next to my tent )

Tree

Here is a tree, a tree in some snow, alot of snow, no really.. alot of snow and fog or whateva that stuff is that seems to sit on mountain tops..

4 shot landscape panorama with me standing knee deep in snow (with snow shoes).. and i have long legs 🙂

Advanced

Whilst these may not look that much different from previous aircraft – although i reckon the 787 looks freakin' aswesome 🙂 , the technological advances that have gone into newer aircraft is quite amazing, on one hand i feel some what reassured that our aircraft manufacturer's are making aircraft more environmentally friendly but on the cynical side and probably the more realistic side the real reason is cost with the convenient side effect of improved emissions..;)

Aviation (AU) emissions have steadily increased with the increase in air travel, 19 mil tonnes to 22mil tonnes over 4 years however the fuel consumption rate and emissions rate is decreasing (about 1.5% per year decrease), that is a result of more efficient aircraft like this one, the 787 (and the desire to make aircraft cheaper to run 😉 )
Thats enough fun facts for today
