The Flour Mill

Part of the Mill which stopped use in the 1980's and turned into a studio, in 2007 it was converted into apartments and a more flashy studio 🙂

Great old building with lots of interest, seen here backdropped with the smoke from the recent fires in greater sydney.

NSW Burns

A fairly diabolic day for the Fire Services today, my hat goes off to those brave men and women who help protect homes, parks, lives and property from fire damage.

It may cost a small fortune to keep fire services active and ready, especially the aviation sector but I suspect, never will any of that money be wasted given the number and severity of fires we have had already…and its not even summer yet.

Sydney siders saw the effects of this today with the incredible plume of smoke snaking it's way to the east creating burnt orange skies.

Chaos v Snails

I did plan to capture the sunset, but when I mentioned the word snails and the word park, I certainly was not going alone 🙂 It actually turned out to be a bit of a fizzer sunset and it was great rack up some quality park time with chaos, third park in one day 🙂

On a side note, that must have been one big ass mould for these things….

Chaos and I were gonna rearrange these plastic snails, but there were to many people around..and they are actually really heavy.

(how funny would it be to see one mounting the other?!, yeah I know immature..)

The way to salvation 😉

No HDR (multiple image blending), simply a GND filter and timing of the sun peeking over the horizon of cloud.

This is a good scenario for the use of your new Hitech reverse GND filter +Rodney Campbell and one where the 100*125 would be close to not covering the entire scene I think, hence the 100*150 is by far the right choice.

The first image of the morning, very rarely do I even keep the first image, however in this case I quite liked the moodiness and dark overtones.

Blending the sweet lines of the F22, this thing has more curves than Mariah Carey.

the hardest thing is deciding whether to shoot from the rear or the side 🙂 or even just smack front on.

Nature vs The city

3 shot Panorama image – Northern end of Maroubra Beach

Beachside apartment living 🙂 on occasions when the cloud is in the right spot on the horizon you can get some very nice, often very subtle, pink rays as the sun pokes it's way through, this was one such occasion.

Maroubra, whilst having a somewhat rough reputation is still one of the few eastern suburb where you can park for free 🙂
