A fairly diabolic day for the Fire Services today, my hat goes off to those brave men and women who help protect homes, parks, lives and property from fire damage.
It may cost a small fortune to keep fire services active and ready, especially the aviation sector but I suspect, never will any of that money be wasted given the number and severity of fires we have had already…and its not even summer yet.
Sydney siders saw the effects of this today with the incredible plume of smoke snaking it's way to the east creating burnt orange skies.

Very beautiful !
Fantastic mate. I walked in to my office with clear skies and came out 9 hours later under this beautiful, but evil sky. I hope we beat these fires quick.
The skies were certainly insane today – from my high rise office in the city looking west you could see the wall of orange moving towards the city in the early afternoon

yeah i know what you mean +Brett Williamson , pretty bizarre and dreadful day for many.
+Rodney Campbell what was cool was the different perspectives depending where you were, i was right on the southern edge of the plume and there some really cool colours and cloud/smoke movements..
Stunning capture ! Thank you for sharing with +Urban Thursday !
