Good for you for being there year on year. Their service was arduous indeed and they deserve honour and respect. As a young women I heard many stories from men who served in WWI and now they are all gone, so I am glad I took the opportunity when it presented itself. There is no way to comprehend what war means without hearing it direct from those who fought it.
