Found this on reddit.com/aviation, spectacular image of lightning strike on an aircraft in flight. Happens more than you'd think and the passengers probably never noticed.
Holy shit!
Do you reckon it would be loud in the cabin?
nah, i reckon there would be a change of underwear required tho…
A freind of mine is a air craft engineer, showed me some pics of the damage this leaves. Pretty full on. Burns holes in panels.
Speaking from experience +Gerard Blacklock ? π
+Chris Harris spot on..i have spent many a early morning dealing with the aftermath of lightning strikes, everyone is different – i have seen some here it looks like some has run a arc welder down the bottom of the fuselage!
+Brett Williamson the strike bit or the underwear bit π
i have been several metres from a direct strike (on the ground) it was ….rather loud, but mostly due to the tree it cooked :).. oh there was no time to leave any skid marks π
Haha, sorry +Gerard Blacklock . I didn't realize what you did for a living. I just read your profile. What's the saying… preaching to the choir.
Amazing capture. +Matthew Keyser
dunno who +Matthew Keyser is? did he take it? but hes a aussie so i guess thats ok +Andrew Finlay π
No sorry +Gerard Blacklock he didn't take it but he is a flying freak. Was just alerting him to it.
ahh that explains it +Andrew Finlay i was rather confused (not hard btw)
+Matthew Keyser just fly on a Qantaslink Q400 enough and I guarantee you some lightning strike action!
