Sneaky, spidery, Sunday Sunrise Sessions

Squeezed in between a golf course, a pistol range, a cemetery and a so called national park is this little gulley which I had seen many times when browsing the google maps, I have frequented the areas north (Little Bay) of this and also south (Cruwee Bay) however never quite made it to this place, whilst not terribly inspiring the clouds and sunrise did give it some interest.

Rod and I did a fine battle with the local spider population from which we were quite victorious, ie no spiders on faces 😉 there were a few close calls 😉 It is really only a short walk in and we did not even notice the cemetery in dark, however i suspect the attention was more concentrated on the spidery fiends, its funny how the walk into a location in blackness can seem much further than that on the way out. I had actually visited this area just the day before with both Chaos and Mayhem for a bushwalk and driving past this spot we saw a red belly black snake slithering across the road – it has certainly been a season of snakes for me 😉

This spot is classic Sydney coast cliffs, much like what you find at Kurnell and even some of the eastern suburb cliff line, the rich green mixed with the sandstone can really shine in the right conditions, particularly when the golden light of the sun rising meets it.

time to contemplate your position in the world
i’ll save you some time 🙂 …your one in about 7 billion odd people, be thankful for what you have and not what you don’t 🙂

My favorite park bench – for which one must be patient and wait for a moment of solidarity since its so damn popular with the dog walkers..runners… walkman junkies (yeah thats for you over 30 peeps)…and the rest of the park lovers 😉

This is Sydney Park, my often ‘go to’ location when I have little or no time, its always a wealth of compositions and the rolling hills give me a sense of being somewhere else than in the middle of the inner west of Sydney, which as great as it is…can be a drag some days ..

view this full size, viewing guaranteed 🙂

Some very hot weather resulting in the first few bushfires of the season meant the sky was lookign a bit hazy, I ducked off to the park on the way home just to see what the sunset would do.

and apartment living
One thing I do love about the Inner West of Sydney is the number of parks especially given that we all have to live in shoe boxes, well most of us 😉 Parks do feature pretty heavily for most people in the area, whether your a dog lover and taking your ball chasing guard dog for a run or getting some exercise or getting the kids out for while…

Sydney Park is one of my favorite parks, mainly since its such a great example of what councils/governments can do with a refuse site if they put their mind and money to it, its also pretty photogenic, with lots of nice spots for all kinds of stuff, lightpainting, landscape, airport, city views.. etc..

Its hard to believe that this park only come into existent in 1993, checkout these old photos!

I really like the single lone highrise (well medium rise i suppose) apartment block adjacent to the park, it has featured in my pictures before and in this particular case I did set myself up in waiting for the perfect lot of people to walk on thru the frame!

Building the Barangaroo Planetoid

Count the cranes
So, they reckon the buildings have apparently doubled in size since the original design proposal – well, the proof will be in the pudding I suppose, not long now before this skyline is changed forever. Get in while you can for your non-developed Barangaroo Pano or planetoid 😉

I welcome any suggestions, comments and improvements to my photography, they are always warmly welcomed and always appreciate the time people take to have a look, plus and/or comment.

Bunker Graf

Well you cannot accuse the graf artists of not recycling 😉 it would be a boring miserable old bunker without a bit of colour 😉 Better than lighting up the trains at least.

Cling to Hope

Nature is amazing, these little scrubs cling to life on the edge of these cliffs and seem to take pride in being as robust as the rocks 🙂 This ones for you little fella..

Nature vs city

Predawn swirls on the cliffs of Malabar – the under rated location in Sydney. Maroubra in the distance.

Thanks to +Rodney Campbell for the company and being a spider web removalist.

+Suren J buy yourself a real camera and I'll see you next time 😉 This was a trip down memory lane from the DSLRusers session with the ray-man. Btw, no wet feet and no (or very little ) mud

Natural Frame

After spending quite sometime wandering around the lower part of the falls looking for a darn tree to frame the lower falls, this tree just jumped out and said frame me 🙂 Pure gnarliness – its like nature just knew what to do to make a nice image.

Once again, nature, 3.5 stars for you!

Welcome to the Morning – The outflow

After ditching (sorry guys) +Suren J and +Rodney Campbell for my morning exercise (sand run follwed by rock run 😉 ) I finally came upon some very nice rock shelves which did lend them to be positioned with the moments of brilliant colour on the dark and threatening clouds.

Yellow

A slight change from my usual displays of green mossy stuff – i came across this quite bizarre yellow rock coverings that seemed to be nicely timed with the predawn yellow of the sky.

Well done nature, 3.5 stars for you today.

Sharks Teeth

My thoughts go out to Zac and his mates/family who was mortally injured the other day in a shark attack just north of Coffs Harbour – way to young too die. Rest in peace buddy.

Thus, the image, a horizon that reminded me of the mouth of a shark, even more appropriate given Zac was body boarding at the time of the shark attack.
