Russian Mother Takes Magical Pictures of Her Two Kids With Animals On Her Farm
These wonderful photographs by Elena Shumilova plunge the viewer into a beautiful world that revolves around two boys and their adorable dog, cat, duckling and rabbit friends. Taking advantage of natural colors, weather conditions and her enchanting surroundings, the gifted Russian artist …

Mist/spray on the filters – probably one of the hardest, if not impossible defects to correct in post processing. There is alot to be said for just taking the 5 minutes in the field to take the filter off and clean it, in alot of scenarios it does not really matter, ie low dynamic range larger apertures etc, however at small apertures pointing into the sun or scenes with high dynamic range it can pretty well ruin a image

This image I pretty well gave up to the seascape gods but thought i might just process it and see what happens. It was after all just a frame which i turned around and shot while walking to another spot, the sun set was looking pretty nice in that corner of the sky and there was some nice foreground albeit it busy.

Misty Dragons Teeth

Apparently, according to the 4yro Chaos, who was meant to be in bed asleep but insisted on looking at some photos 'cause it helped her sleep' (when have I heard that?) this looks like a buried dragon or dinosaur jaw and teeth. Very topical since she has a paleontologist excavator kit (basically a bit of fake clay with plastic bones inside which you have to scrape, dust and saw to reveal)

anyway, some cool repetitive patterns in the rocks here.

Something that I find challenging and enjoyable is finding those little seascape flows that lead a viewer through a image, sometimes it may take several images and 4 or 5 wave sets to get the right flow, position and desired motion – and of course all whilst keeping a keen eye on the ocean and balancing on a somewhat slippery rock.

In this case this was the second composition i tried here, the first was just off to the right than i noticed this little mad trail of white wash that trickled thru during the big wave set, hence a minor tripod adjustment some cursing as i nearly fell in the drink and this is the composition i came up with.

Thanks to some very nice sea fog and horizon cloud the sun got nicely muted enabling a nicely lit scene right into the sun.

Welcome to south chinamans beach just off the bombing range 😉
Some trivia for ya’s – 2 Beaufighters collided here during a simulated attack on the airfield and a F111 got cleaned up by a bird in the 70’s

Into the Mist

View large , at the very least you will find some crabs…

Sometimes its more about being there with nature than what it is about taking a photograph (thats always a bonus)

Most people who know me (and are not photographers) think I am a bit of a nutter, the common comment of 'you want to go and take photos in this?' little do they realise that different weather conditions often provide something different 🙂

Anyway, after a family member kindly offered me the use of their 4wd I had probably a little over an hour available after my fatherly chores were complete to spend as I wished. 10 minute drive to the location and a 20 minute shrub bash to the water and it was as grey as it could get and i was getting pretty wet – I took a total of 3 shots each around 200 seconds each before the rain got the better of me. 25 minutes out (its a steep hill 🙂 ) and 10 minutes home and i got to tell Chaos a story before hopping into bed.

Time well spent, i reckon.

River of Snakes

Welcome to 2014 – sometimes the last shot of the day is the best, i trawled up and down this stretch of rocky outcrop looking for a nice channel just like this, however it was not until i was heading out of there that I came across this gorge and a very cool cave, but thats for a revisit.

Sparkle Bursts

Sydney City skyline and the famous Sydney Opera house to the right.
I think i am pretty well new year eve'ed out already, I have seen so many amazing pictures of the event and its amazing to see all the different angles and nooks and crannies that people get to to take a picture of them.

Cremorne point had a good view onto the city skyline and there were some really sweet fireworks, my favorites were the multicolour star bursts, a pyrotechnics wet dream i reckon, i can only imagine the preparation it takes to make this stuff happen.
