Mist/spray on the filters – probably one of the hardest, if not impossible defects to correct in post processing. There is alot to be said for just taking the 5 minutes in the field to take the filter off and clean it, in alot of scenarios it does not really matter, ie low dynamic range larger apertures etc, however at small apertures pointing into the sun or scenes with high dynamic range it can pretty well ruin a image

This image I pretty well gave up to the seascape gods but thought i might just process it and see what happens. It was after all just a frame which i turned around and shot while walking to another spot, the sun set was looking pretty nice in that corner of the sky and there was some nice foreground albeit it busy.

The Witch Widjirriejuggi and the fate of the 3 brothers of the Birpai tribe

North Brother, the European name (by Captain Cook) for the hill in the distance and the place where one of the Dreamtime legend Birpai tribe brothers rests.

Like the Napoleon advertisement, its a crime not to prime view large 🙂

It was a bit wild and woolley out this evening – look carefully and you can see the lightning in two places on the right of the image – don't ask how i stitched a image and got two lighting bolts 😉 its a long story 😉 6 landscape orientation images stitched.

Sometimes its worthwhile braving the elements for a shot and this was one such time, although i and others have questioned my sanity here considering the hill (north brother) in the distance did get fried by lightning 🙂 and I was considering heading up there for sunset 🙂

Emu

If you look closely – and it does not take imagination on acid 🙂 to see it..you can see the outline of a emu running, made by the succulent creeper on the rocks.

or..you could, like my 4yro chaos, see a dinosaur, however she sees dinos everywhere at the moment.

Cling to Hope

Nature is amazing, these little scrubs cling to life on the edge of these cliffs and seem to take pride in being as robust as the rocks 🙂 This ones for you little fella..

Warm vs Cold

I waited a good ten minutes for the right wave to run over the little shelf but alas it was not to be, hence the trickle rather than the desired 'whoosh'. Probably a good thing for 30 seconds after i left the big set came thru and and where i was standing was well and truly swamped 🙂

I am always a fan of images in which there is battle for the light and dark or cool and warm – in this case the shadows of the rockshelf gave me the cool side of the world and the cloud muffled warm light gave me, well the warm side.

Somewhere south of Garie beach – far away from the bustle of the city and monday to friday 🙂

Natural Frame

After spending quite sometime wandering around the lower part of the falls looking for a darn tree to frame the lower falls, this tree just jumped out and said frame me 🙂 Pure gnarliness – its like nature just knew what to do to make a nice image.

A slight change from my usual displays of green mossy stuff – i came across this quite bizarre yellow rock coverings that seemed to be nicely timed with the predawn yellow of the sky.

Green Balls

A small rugged section of coastline in the Royal National Park just 40 minutes south of Sydney. The RNP (Royal National Park) has an almost unlimited number of great locations from clifftops to rockshelfs to scrub and of course waterfalls.

This particular spot, Garie Beach is a very popular with keen Surfers and Bushwalkers – it is on the route for the Coastwalk which travels pretty much the full length of the park.

This sweet green mossy rocks jumped out at me and was perfectly timed as some nice cloud swept across to add some interest to the sky.

Note, Garie beach surf club and facilities are great, for something that has no connected power, water or sewerage its got damn good facilities, nicely done.

perfect conditions for a little LE, purely for the clouds of course. The tree on the top was just awesome, reminds me of a falls on the Gibb river road with a fat Boab tree on the top of the falls.
